Royal Air Force Typhoon jets have operated alongside France's air force in a coordinated attack on an hidden munitions depot in Syria employed by the IS group, according to the British defence ministry.
The site, pinpointed through reconnaissance, was assessed as housing weapons and explosive materials, the statement said, and was located in hills just above Palmyra in the heart of Syria.

There was no indication of any civilian impact in the operation late on Saturday and each participating jet returned safely, the defence officials confirmed.
The Typhoon FGR4s were backed up by a Voyager tanker plane.
